Hi guys.... been playing a little more and starting to get what I think are some better images. I have to be careful posting the images as the club are obviously trying to sell them and I know I don't need to tell you guys about image theft...........

Let me know what you think. This shot was taken from the stands with my 70-200 f2.8L and 450D.
It has been cropped and reduced in quality slightly from the original image.
The Exif data is available on flickr.

Lynchio,

Getting lower down will give you a better viewpoint, although I can't remember what the plexi is like there. The lighting seems fine although the image is a tad grainy.

Only criticism I would have is that you can't see the puck.

Shame I can't get up next weekend for the Vipers v Blaze game as we could have a natter.

Drop me a pm if you want some ideas for how to sell your pics I can send you some samples of the stuff I put together for the Blaze.

Thanks Scott, as always I appreciate the feedback, the club are selling the pics themselves and so far they have been quite succesful.

The plexi at the MRA is totally woeful (you've got more chance of shooting through mud).
The grain is possibly down to the limitations of the camera (that said I am currently saving) as I am having to shoot a lot at ISO1600 a lot of the time.

The puck is there you just have to look really really closely........ its in the netting of the glove! :D

What I have done sometiimes with my hockey photos is use the local adjustment brush in Lightroom to select the puck and adjust the exposure on the puck a bit to make it stand out more. You can't overdo it, but a moderate bit of careful exposure or brighness, either lighten it a bit or darken it a bit as needed to make it stand out sometimes saves the shot.

YMMV,
Walt
