This male was shot at Half Moon Bay California. The vole population is very healthy and this field is frequented by several species of raptor.

Great timing Bobby, and nice definition. The adult males are much harder to track down than their mates.

Great catch. That is one of the better shots of this bird I have seen. They aren't shy here, they just spend a lot of time out over the little islands in the river, hunting the rats that live there. So you can't normally get close to them. :)

marsh hawks i see are usually coasting 8 feet or less off the ground!:eek:
