I did a search for "Zeiss 18mm" and didn't see any posts about the announcement, so I apologize if this has already been posted.

We knew it was coming, and Zeiss has officially announced the Distagon T* 3,5/18 ZE with availability in Autumn 2009. I know that the 18mm is not as highly regarded as the 21mm, but I am curious to see how this lens will perform. With the introduction of the 17TSE, Canon set the bar high for wide primes.

Love the look of this lens, where can you buy from?

Of all the Zeiss lenses about to become ZE, this one is the worst performing. Good but not great.

I'm still waiting on my stinkin' 21mm and 100mm. Argh.

But nevertheless, I'm sure this lens will be a knockout and every new ZE lens is okay in my book!

Nice blacked-out 5D2 in that DPR/Zeiss shot. Heh.
