Ewan Suck..big time, silly country.

Hi Al, loved your trip series, yum yum! Thanks for the comments.

Hey Ed Younger!

Thanks! I've got a few more but I'm having an arse of a time trying to upload at the moment to Smugmug.

Anyhoo....

If in my position and had $220 to spend on some gear to start with (keeping in mind I'm going to need all necesary brackets etc) what would you get?

Cheers,
Shaun

One light stand like a manfrotto nano ripoff and a convertible umbrella and bracket. You'll learn a lot with one light.

Great Shot Damian, much prefer the edit, although like Al said maybe brighten it up just a little.

Nicely Done though!

Cheers

@Damo,I agree with Al and Nic, oh and I hate you.One day maybe one day I'll be as good.

Come on John. One day I will be up your way, we will catch some of those mud crabs and shoot some mermaids!

Went crabbing today in the creek as the beach shoot we had planned got blown out by the NE and then the Westerly and finally the Southerly even chased us out of the peaceful valley, here is a rough a ready EDit:D

Yeah i was thinking of just going with one to start with, I was looking at purchasing from http://www.imagemelbourne.com.au/ (external link), is there any specific models or brands I should be looking at? I'd rather get one quality light/brolly (or box) than a series of inferior ones

A few bodies and lenses..

@ Damo,I like the light in that shot but I'm not sure about the pose the model looks uncomfortable/awkward,like she is about to slip off the rock.
As for being up my way just give me a shout and we'll get something organised, don't know about the mermaids though.
Hmm just had thought you probably know where they hang out:lol::lol:

Having said that, I'll probably get a mini when I get the ZoneController.

Have you tried the ST-E2 to control 2 zones?

Would Stu be likely to do any discounts on three FlexTT5s?

Ted's have them for the same price as Stu and Teds are having a Friday 13th sale with 13% off a heap of stuff.

Still nowhere near as cheap as the ebay link I posted for the pocketwizards.

Major job just got cancelled as the police here won't let anyone under 20 have a working license.

Bummed.

Man, that's lame as anything. Though if you'd waited 'till you were paid for the job before buying the 50L, you would've never got it... so perhaps although it didn't work out for THE best, it still worked out for the best it could've. Glass half full mentality, i'm reppin' tonight!

For some reason neither of those links would work on the iPhone. Any chance of you summarising the details for me here? I am interested in a flex and a mini. Seems d-d electronics has a reasonable price on the CE ones.

Cheers.

You should be able to get two stands and two brollies for about that if you're careful. Definitely one of each with ease.

My 10 year-old is heartbroken. Richo was his idol.

Hey Damo,

We'll have to plan a POTN inaugural up John's way. Crabs and photography!;)

Anyhoo, back to the shot and an observation based from John's comment. Some of the most uncomfortable poses I've seen really do highlight some wonderful aspects of the female form. The pose here has brought out a gorgeous and subtle arc in her body and a gentle rise in her bust. Her head position I would have altered though. She's on the cusp of having a furrowed brow from having to look too far up with her eyes.

All in all you've taken a good shot that needs a little more brightness in PP. Your lighting, composition and a lovely model have given you leeway that aids us in seeing past a few imperfections.

:)

And for everyone else, do we have any Photo5 finalists here?
