*runs into the corner* Nope, no back up body.

I'll give canon a call now and see what they say.

They'll say call back during office hours.

I hope not too but shutters do have a life span. Think of it this way if you have to get it replaced your camera will be as good as new.

PS you paid a crap load of money!

This is true, still the most inconvienant time. It was working in the morning, late afternoon is decided to quit.

I hope not, i just payed a crap load of money for the camera, a working camera, i didnt want to buy a camera for it to break!

The joys of buying used. Try buying a mkIII with all the issues they had, that was nerve-wracking!

(Yes, I usually buy used...)

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)

Ha! I've been a spelling pedant for decades. I'm happy to job share though.

Woo! Just bought a 24-70 off eBay for $1350. Located in South Melbourne so I'll be picking it up this week obviously :) Even though it's an eBay deal, I'm still allowed to try it out on my camera before handing over the money and everything like that, aren't I?

Congrats! I'm sure you'll love it!

As far as being allowed to try it out - that's between you and the seller.

Yeah, that's true. I messaged them and asked to arrange pickup (when and where) so in the next one after they reply to me, I'll mention it in a way that doesn't sound like I think they're dodgy, just that I want to for safety.

I think I will love it :) It's a big step up from my little 24 but it'll be worth it. I'm a bit worried about the zoom and how it's effectively reversed but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

Congrats! If you have agreed to pay the seller upon local-pickup, it's probably okay, provided you tell him beforehand this is your intention. Enjoy the new lens! :)

Indeed. Shall we go to war?

Wikked. COD is allowed - I did it yesterday with the filing cabinet I sold - but you should sort out the "try it" stuff first, as you have agreed, legally, to buy the lens now you've won it.

Moose, there is no issue with the zoom on the 24-70. It does not affect it's use in any way except if you go wide with the on-board flash where it will cause a shadow in the lower centre of the shot. Mine is on my camera 90% of the time.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I'll definitely mention that I'd like to try it on before handing over the cash but I can't see myself trying it and then saying no anyway

Lucky for me that my only body doesn't have a popup flash  But yes, that's why I think I should just stop worrying about it. It's the bread and butter lens for so many people and I've never heard anyone complain about it. Can't wait till I get it and have it on my camera all the time :p
