Good on you, Glenn!

Thanks :D I'm fairly happy with the way I've gone about things with my gear. At the turn of the year, I still had the kit lenses and the nifty. Now I'm going to have a 1D2 and two f/2.8L zooms before my 18th! I can't imagine what I would have done with my money without photography :p

It will be a nice range, I think. Using the 24/2.8 prime has always been nice. It's more than wide enough (but I'll still want wider later on) and I've really missed the length since I got rid of the nifty. Can't wait :)

Ha! I've been a spelling pedant for decades. I'm happy to job share though.

Indeed. Shall we go to war?

:-)

It's a full time job for at least 3 or 4 people around here, although it's not quite so hectic now Angus isn't posting as often. :p

Woo! Just bought a 24-70 off eBay for $1350. Located in South Melbourne so I'll be picking it up this week obviously :) Even though it's an eBay deal, I'm still allowed to try it out on my camera before handing over the money and everything like that, aren't I?

Nice, I'm sure you'll love it.

I have the older 28-70 f2.8 and it's a total ripper of a lens, even better on the 1D MKII than on the 400D.

Good for building upper-body strength too, especially on the 1D :p

Can the 1D2 only be configured via the firewire cable? Or does the USB also work?

The 28-70 seems pretty rare these days. I can imagine it's just as great though!

 I've had that with the 70-200/2.8L. Now I just have my own home gym, a lens for each hand :p

Thanks :) I'll definitely post some tax with it.

As was said, Firewire only. Make sure you use XP so you don't have to muck around with any drivers or whatever. Having said that, the laptop I used when I changed settings months ago didn't work a few weeks ago when I tried it again. Although it could have been the Firewire cable I bought from eBay  $2.10 so it was a small risk.

Thanks guys. Must scavenge for a 6 pin firewire -_-.

An interesting interview with a photographer in NY that I really like: http://jrphoto.wordpress.com …otographer-simon-gerzina/ (external link)

I tend to be a lot lighter on camera gear than most people but heavier on lighting gear.

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)
