Makes sense. I've loved my 70-200 even more since I've had my 1D2. That extra bit of width makes such a difference. But at the same time, I can't wait to have my 24-70. The 70-200 is nice to use but it's always too long

If I stuck with APS-C (which I very well may have, through the 7D, if I didn't get the 1D2) then I would definitely have gone for the 17-55 rather than the 24-70. A cousin-in-law has the 17-55 and it's a very nice lens.

I'm hoping Canon releases a 24-70 f/2.8 IS next year. Would be nice.

There is a current rumour that Canon has a f/2 zoom in the works - quite alot of people are speculating a 35-70 f/2. Not going to speculate on accuracy since it's just a rumour, but interesting nonetheless.

Nice, I'm sure you'll love it.

I have the older 28-70 f2.8 and it's a total ripper of a lens, even better on the 1D MKII than on the 400D.

Good for building upper-body strength too, especially on the 1D :p

35-70 f/2. that would be one massive lens.

Man, that would be a heavy bastard. And a pricey one, you would think. A 24-70L with the new Hybrid IS is much more likely though.

I love the 70-200 focal range on the 1D2. Gorgeous stuff. Oh wait, I said all this already haven't I

That IS the rumor, the 35-70 IS variant. FL ranges don't always stay the same ;)

Yep. Love what someone said upon hearing this rumour the other day; went somewhere along the lines of "Wow, awesome. Here's to hoping it's gonna be much lighter than the 24-70L."

If they make it a 35-70mm f/2L IS USM... I'm not sure how much they'd sell :p It'd be heavy and pricey despite how awesome it would definitely be...

Yep, the 70-200 is amazing now. Would be even better on FF but I won't get FF anytime soon :p

Evening everyone :)

I spent today at my old cadet Squadron, taking a few photos of their End of Year Parade. One particular photo they were after was a panorama of the entire Squadron on the parade. It proved to be a little tricky - I had no tripod, and a space of about 5-6 seconds to take the picture (before they march forward, "advancing in review order"). I managed to get this:

The photo consists of 7 vertical shots, merged in CS4.

Really? I've shot very few panos before, and one or two practice ones before the parade began. Heh, both the practice ones had some weird horizontal curvature (like straight straight straight then cuuuuurve on one side), so I must have gotten rather lucky here

You're shooting at noon as well so that sucked for creative lighting!

I think the curves have something to do with the placement of the horizon during your "pre production" ;)
