For those that were interested in photomerchant,

I am setting up a site at the moment and so far it is great.

if you want to have a look at what i got so far go to...

http://nicdavel.photomerchant.net (external link)

I will do a bigger write up in the future but so far so good :)

That looks good Nic. I've been thinking of possibly switching from Smugmug to something like Photomerchant. Is it possible to use your own domain name?

My main reason for switching would be for easier sales..

Is it just me, or is doing a firm ware upgrade on your camera a nervous few moments,
I upgraded the firmware on my 5D MKII this morning and it sat on 99% for what seemed like forever.

I've never had to complete a firmware upgrade. If I still had my 400D, I would have done the hack straight away. My other two cameras are 4/5 and 9 years old so there's been no new firmware for a while now :p

To the Manfrotto 055 users, what head do you use on it?

You'd want atleast a 488 if you go ball head.

Phil, the RC2 would be better IMO as the plate is more standard and easier to use.

I noticed the plate looking very different. I do like the idea of the spirit levels though. Might have to go in somewhere and look at them both.

The head itself has a spirit level in it. Only one though, and I've never used it...

Phil, I use the 488 RC2

Congrats to Asz on winning the new wedding tog gong!

Ed, with your softbox and your drag car parachute sized parabolic brolly and Oat's Chineebee Octa there was no room left in the lab for mine anyway. Cant wait to play in the big area though!
Tell Al to take a leaf outta my book and have a cheap R's backdrop and floor by rigging up a roll of floor vinyl with the back painted white and then pull out as much as you need for a seamless transition from wall to floor. Just paint it again as required!

I use the 488RC2 with 055XProb - it works very well for my requirements.

I have the 808RC4 3-way head on my 055xprob.
I like the RC4 plates, seems safer with big camera bodies and long lenses.
I even have one on top of my monopod - fast, strong connection.
