1Ds.....oh yeah.

Tax again.

Reckon a little more light is needed.

Yeah, it looks a bit under and thus flat.

Very nice indeed Mic, very nice indeed.

Ta. Took forever :-)

nice... does it have a sync port for some OCF action?

Thanks. No, I wish it did, then it would be totally awesome. Going to have to look at some optical triggers for my flashes to get some OCF goodness going.

I've kindof decided that what i have works fine and that with the lighting gear i'm still waiting for i'll be set for alot, no real need to spend much more... I mean how much better can a 1D4 be? the 1D3 takes perfectly great pictures without much fuss....

Agreed.

Oh yeah and leo from imagemelbourne is great, turns out the website failed

Nobody is going to be too surprised by that :-)

I'm really confused as to why someone would fav this 23-month-old image on Flickr this morning:

IMAGE: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2358/2245755563_2f63132cdf_b.jpg

(Shot with a 40D and Sigma 70-200.)

Yes that it's going to be bloody expensive, and well outside my price range.

I've never seen one on a lens rental list or I'd rent it just to see if results truely warranted the price.

The problem is that it's one of those "gotta get a good copy" lenses, apparently.

For all the (few) 40D owners in the thread who haven't forgotten abotu them because if their 1 series bodies, did anyone notice any issues when you updated firmware with a sudden backfocusing issue popping up?

I updated the firm ware for the first time since i've owned the camera (2 years) to 1.1.1 from 1.0.3 and took it out yesterday to take some pics of friends outside in strong daylight. On all occasions it was shot in Tv using the pop up flash for a bit of fill. Using my trusty 17-40 at 17mm it consistently seemed to focus on the landscape behind them rather than on the people I focussed on.

Normally my 17-40 is a star performer. Can only assume that the focus is body related?

Any ideas?

Scott

Hi Scott, I see you want a 10-22. I want to offload one. You mention you have a 17-40. I want one. Would you consider some sort of a trade?

I recently had trouble with my 17-40 on my 40D, a lot of the shpts were soft at various focal lengths. Hope that by ignoring t it will fix itself!

Anyway of to Nowra for a fashion shoot,
now that is a paradox! :-)

I'm running firmware v 1.0.5, and it seems to be fine - looks to have worked OK for Al the other week when he used it, but that's not really much use :-) Just adding a data point.

It's regarded as a collector's item due to it's rarity and speed, hence the price. The 50/1.2L actually performs better at pretty much all corresponding apertures.

It's actually rather tempting. I do crave more width but my plans were to get a 1d3 when they are made sufficiently cheaper by the new younger 1d4 or go all out and look at an older 1ds mk ii. I was also thinking of a tokina 11-16 that many here rave about. But hard to find... Next lens is either a 24-70 or a slightly cheaper and much lighter 24-105.

But I will keep it in mind. How much you want for it anyway?

Ah, the joy of lens-lust...

Here's another product shot, of the now-not-for-sale 40D.

Yeh, fair enough. I was going for somewhere between the 700-750 mark.
