Wait, so what are you shooting? Not tennis i guess?

Hoping to shoot some tennis, if location/time permits.

Not my shot :-)

I would still like a D3....heck, I'd settle on a D2X.

Hmmm, they're only a $1000. ;)

Folks, thanks for everything. I've only been getting dribs and drabs of info but essentially I found out at work that mum and dad are coming down to Melbourne now. Dad had an ultrasound and a CT in Cairns and stopped it there to opt instead to fly down to a capital city for a biopsy and further treatment if required. I didn't find that out about what they found until I was well into my train trip home and tried my best not to ball my eyes out followed by thinking to myself that it really could be anything at the moment, "Let's not think the worst yet."

It will be good to see my folks here in Melbourne again....it could still be a fart. ;)

Think photography if I can't think of anything else. My laptop in on it's way back from a service so I can't post my shots but I think that not many people give the Canon wireless flash system enough credit. I just shot a handheld slave and the image of Maggie against the sun is quite nice with a global EV of -2 and flash EV of +1.

I must try more.

Project365 - Jan 19

Some sort of plant :-)

IMAGE: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4003/4287799042_deacee177f_b.jpg

Saw this a few days ago, and shot it today. This didn't work as well as I wanted, given the lack of wind, as I wanted some movement in the stalks. Oh well, such is life, eh?

Yeah, it's a bit of a dud.

cheers, juice (Canon shooter, Elinchrom lighter, but pretty much agnostic on brands.)

What not to do with a carving knife...

Last night, I had a minor lapse of concentration while chopping the garlic for dinner and chopped a bit more than I had planned.
Tonight I removed the bandages to let it breath a bit, and discovered the gauze was stuck to the wound, I removed it, and apart from hurting really badly (fixed by a stiff scotch), it bled a bit too.

So of course, I felt the need to shoot it. One 580exII camera left and slightly behind subject, one 580exII on camera pointing 45 degrees right into a sheet of paper. Both fired by eTTL at a 4:1 ratio. Black velvet-like cd wallet used as a backdrop. ;-)a

QUOTED IMAGE

Only quibble with this one is the out of focus fern frond encroaching on her forehead.

I have a habit of shooting those sorts of grasses backlit in the late afternoon. There's something about fluffy grasses that tends to draw photographers in... ;-)a

Some long overdue tax from me. This is the e-shoot I was struggling with a week or so ago. Not too sure about this one with the high contrast. Thoughts?
