POTN Aussie Club #7 - Feng, where's my invoice?

Damn. There are 2 machines at work. The one I use has ****e pressure but makes a great espresso. The steam wand takes A LOT of well practiced technique to get any hint of microfoam out of it.

The machine upstairs has great pressure and takes little skill to make great microfoam...espresso is crap out of it though.

I have seen my Brother in Law doing this stuff, he had just bought a machine etc. I now know it takes a lot of practice, you have good symmetry going on


In other news there was enough of a break in the fog to go for a short walk to Leura Cascades this arvo, hopefully i have a nice cliche waterfall shot from it
BTW i was using nd8, f8, iso 100 and pulling 30sec shutter times, so worked well i thought. Anyways i though i'd try the nd1000 just for fun, but it was practically impossible, being that i did not have hours to spend down there, haha.

So i guess i need to find a brighter place to photograph so i can get a photo entered in the POTNAC official 10 stop nd comp.

Feng, you annoy me with your free pouring ability. I think I must be doing something wrong with my espresso shots. I just can't keep the crema sludge to stay there long enough. I can get awesome microfoam from my machine but can't seem to put the Rosettas together as intricate as those. Grrr

Great pattern there Feng! I have similar problems to Scott. (The crema we get is perfect though - Very well calibrated grinder / machine thanks to Belaroma) I can get the crema, I can get the nice silky smooth milk, it's just the actual pattern than doesn't quite work out.

Heheh.... I find that the crema does make a difference, but not quite as much as the milk. I remember you still get the separation in your pour, so that'd indicate that the milk and the espresso are the right consistency. Usually if one or the other is not quite right, you won't even get the separation.

Thanks Phil. I'll try and dig up a video of the guy that I learnt off... he's pretty smooth in his pour. He's this canadian dude. I found his video on Coffeegeek
