I doubt you'll notice much IQ difference from a 40D to a 50D. I do think there's a difference in the 5D, but I'm biased. I also had the lenses that would work on the 5D prior to getting it. The only thing that's going to push down prices on the 5D is going to be either a price drop on the 5D mkII or the announcement of a 5DmkIII.
