I found a guy locally that is trying to get rid of his Praktica cameras and lenses.

Here's the Camera booty:
(1) Praktica LTL3
(1) Praktica MTL3
(1) Praktica MTL5 B

Now the lens booty (all M42 mounts):
(1) Sigma XQ - 28mm f/2.8
(1) Mamiya / Sekor - 50mm f/2
(1) Pentacon - 50mm f/1.8
(1) Sakar MC - 35mm-70mm f/3.5-4.5
(1) Yashica / Yashinon DS - 50mm 1.9

[Includes one Vivitar flash, a carry bag, and a few filters....]

All seem to be in excellent condition.

Asking price: "About $90" [I might be able to talk him down!]

I'm not terribly interested in the cameras, though I might play around with them on occasion. I'm mostly interested in the 4 fixed lenses and using them via adapter on my 40D.

Nice deal? So-so deal? Not really worth it?

Thanks,
Matt

Ok, I ask on this digital forum, what are you going to do with it all? Lenses are not special, i.e. worth converting/adapting.

the only I've seen mentioned as not bad on this forum is the pentacon 50mm 1.8...

other than that, doesn't look too interesting...

(btw, the pentacon can be had for about $10 on ebay...)

I recognized a couple of the lenses....but the others didn't look interesting to me either.

Thanks!

Not worth it.

Better stuff can be had for less.

Olympus OM1 with 28 F/3.5, 70-150 F/4, 50 F/1.4: 30 euros.

The Pentacon is supposed to be a good lens, but compared to the nifty fifty, they are not all that great IMO. I wasn't overly impressed by it, using it on my 5D and 5D II, FWIW.

Having owned a Praktica LTL myself, and an LLC: great starter slrs at the time, 25-30 years ago, but not worth the money these days either. As I mentioned, you can have better at a lower price. A Canon EOS Rebel (analog), which is a better camera, can be had for anything between 20 and 30 euros over here. And you can use all of your EF lenses with it.

Kind regards, Wim

EOS R & EOS 5 (analog) with a gaggle of primes & 3 zooms, OM-D E-M1 Mk II & Pen-F with 10 primes, 6 zooms, 3 Metabones adapters/speedboosters, and an accessory plague
