More Planes & Identification Please

I'm not sure what the first two are. Pretty sure the third one is an F-86 Sabre. These were all taken at the Planes of Fame Airshow in Chino this past weekend.

I think the first one is an Avenger and the second is a P47 and third is a F86 Sabre.
I use to know them all but not anymore...hope I'm right

I keep looking at the P47 and Avenger and noticing how nice it is. So clean and crisp yet a shutter speed slow enough to catch the prop in motion.

they were all taken with 300mm/f4LIS + 1.4x + 10D. f8, 1/500, iso100. small amount of cropping and usm were applied. due to the various angles and the hot/hazy condition in which these shots were taken, i ended up using color matching to make the skies look somewhat uniform among all pictures.

okay... here're some newbie plane questions:

i noticed the Avenger's prop seemed to be turning faster than the P47's (more blur), which kinda makes sense since a three-blade prop needs to turn faster than a four-blade prop to produce the same amount of power. or am i just seeing things?

also, are there official terms for the 3-blade props and the 4-blade props as i mentioned above?

Not sure of which turns faster, but depending on the pitch of the prop the motor has to be able to handle the torque. A larger pitch will be more resistance and therefore require more power.

Yep, the Avenger was probably just running at a higher RPM.

If you get that prop pitch really low and don't watch your rpm's....let's just say your engine will not be happy with you.

Actually I'm not too familiar with the way allied pilots worked their prop pitch and throttle. From what i know about flying the German Me-109 (in flight sims of course) it has automatic prop pitch (one of the only planes if I'm not mistaken) and the pilot just goes ahead and works the throttle. But if you switch it to manual and have the pitch really low and your engine over revs say goodbye to it as it will turn to crap instantly.

The TBM's use a R-2600 and the P-47 use a R-2800. The R-2600 has to work a little harder that the 2800.

All of them are really crisp. Its looks like Steve Hinton in the F-86.
