I spent some time with a couple of 7D's @ the HD EXPO in NYC today.

I didn't make any actual images but I did go over the menu system quite a bit.

A couple of features that I really like:

- The grid line that are an option in the viewfinder, there are two sets one with more lines and the other with less. You can set the grids to off, or set one or set two to display.

- The ability to have a registered focus point in either portrait or landscape that automatically engages depending upon the orientation of the camera, is really neat but here is the kicker as it was explained to me, let's say you have your registered focus point in portrait mode is the center top most but let's say that instead of using the camera in your regular portrait holding position you decide to switch that 180 degrees around (upside down if you will) so the your usual portrait top position is now at the bottom - guess what, the camera will engage the focus point to the new center top position.

- The Horizontal/vertical camera positional display looks like it can be useful.

- Both grips should ship around the time the camera is shipping.

The new macro lens was not at the HD EXPO - I was told there is currently only 1 in the USA

---------------
Tried to get some info on if any new flashes were in the works - no info.

Tried to get some info on a New "Pro Body and was told that I wouldn't be disappointed (what ever that means) ;)

I asked about the recent rise in lens pricing and was told that twice a year Canon evaluates the exchange rates and with the dollar decreasing vs. the yen recently that accounts for the increases.

There's a thread in the lens forum where someone already received their 100/2.8L. I don't recall which country though. :D But someone's got one and many are jealous.

Both grips? There are two different grips for the 7D?

I asked a couple of Canon Suits when the camera should hit the streets and I got the same answer sometime in October.

The regular 2 battery grip and the new wireless grip.

Canon is announcing the availability of the new WFT-E5A wireless file transmitter (WFT) exclusively for the EOS 7D Digital SLR camera. The WFT-E5A wireless transmitter offers professional photographers a wide range of digital connectivity options including IEEE802.11a/b/g and Ethernet, ideal for commercial and studio work. The WFT-E5A wireless file transmitter opens the door to new possibilities in remote and Geotagged shooting applications.

Photographers can fire up to 10 cameras simultaneously from across the room or across the country while maintaining control over camera settings and remote live view on a laptop or smart phone.[I] The WFT-E5A wireless transmitter can also transfer and display images on DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) compatible televisions and photo frames. Geotagging is now possible via Bluetooth, using compatible GPS devices to append coordinate data to the images.
