Does anyone have a Manfrottoe 055XPROB that has replaced the center column with a shorter column?

I am trying to get the center column out but it doesn't seem to want to cooperate. The pamphlet doesn't even mention how to do it, but I know it can be done.

I did. It doesn't come out of the top of the though. It comes out enough so that you can turn it horizontal, but that's about it.

I'll try it again maybe I didn't hold it long enough.

Wouldn't turning it horizontal make it even lower? You do have a ballhead, right?

When you push the bottom, it allows it to get into the center part, but you must push the little pin sticking out with your fingernail in order to get it all the way out, its the same way on my 190xprob
