These shots were indeed taken with Nikon bodies. For normal prints or web use (let's face it, most of us only go that far) the differences across different shooting options here are much more dependant on light that gear. D700 and 300mm VR 2.8 combo costs around £5400, while the D90 and Sigma 150-500mm OS costs around £1300.
