I am seeing these symptoms with my 1dmkIIn and 300 2.8 IS... I am going to do some good tests and see if my camera/lens combo is front focusing.. it would seem that it is... darn.. They said the jigamawidjet (not sure exactly what it was) was off and re-calibrated it. It has been solid ever since. It cost $180 + shipping but with CPs it was $126 with free shipping. Also if you can get your subject to stand still it will help. This is my best guess too Scott. Bill -
