I'm speechless. I just don't have the words to convey how disturbed I am by this. But, FamilyJules said it all. Disturbed, yes. Threatened... nah.

It is certainly disturbing to think that two people would decide to have such a special day at a walmart until you learn the story behind it. Not sure I'd want to get married at work myself though..

How cool would it be though to be the photographer? I mean come on that would be awesome!

Well if you suck and are looking to boost your image then yeah doing a Wal-Mart wedding could kill your career. If you know what you're doing you could put a really cool spin on it and make it work in your favor.

Fire hall weddings have a low budget stigma as well, but Jamison Wexler (a great photographer and POTN member), makes them look absolutely amazing. It's not about where a wedding is located; it's about how you capture it.

Besides, a Wal-Mart wedding would be fun. And I don't turn down clients based on their choice of venue. If they can afford me and our personalities mesh to make the day go as smoothly as possible, I'm there.

Would I do it for free or practically nothing? Of course not. But I don't do destination weddings for free either.

I agree. That'd be awesome, fun, and definitely different. People would look and ask, "Where was this taken?" When you reply Wal-mart and present some awesome photos you can say, "I can even make Wal-mart look good!

CDI though still is based on salary. I'd just want to do it.

Come on, ya know it'd be fun! You'd give a discount 'cause you don't shoot random/odd places like that for reg wedding prices.

Weddings are always fun because I love doing them. I still don't discount. I'm cheap as it is.

I was talking about the way people brand things more that a persons ability to over come that stereotype. I am sure there are some talented photographers that work for life touch and olan mills as well. However just that name is enough to make people more that willing to pay top dollar with the sentence. " I am so glad we paid more instead of getting it done at Sears this year."
I am sure that I am not alone when I say that the first thing that comes to mind when I hear walmart is. The place that sells everything cheap and specializes in nothing. That is typicially not something that you associate with a photographer.

I didn't say it would be cool to be a Wal-Mart photographer. I said it would be cool to photograph a Wal-Mart wedding. HUGE difference.
