I’d like to introduce to you the tacticool strobist bag. I was in the market for a bag for my new Gitzo 1541T tripod but wasn’t happy with anything I found. Most were too bulky and/or long, which defeated the purpose of having travel-sized gear. Speedlites are my strobe of choice for their portability and convenience so in that vein I also use Manfrotto 001B Nano light stands (19″ when collapsed), and double-fold umbrellas. Luckily, I found a bag that fits everything! You can find it at County Comm (external link) (I love this place).

Meet the Maratac Extreme SAT-COM bag (external link).

For the full write-up, and more photos, visit my blog (external link)

The bag's shape and handle placement also makes it a great ballast for tripod stability.

Inside is a pocket that I use to hold the umbrellas:

On top of that goes the light stands:

And finally, the tripod:

That is so cool!

I love tactical nylon, and for the price, that's just unbeatable!

Yeah, pity that. For that price looks like a keen deal to be sure.

In case you haven't seen, they're back in stock and even more durable now (made from 1000D Cordura). However, they got rid of the black for olive green.

Not a bad price for a tough bag, I just picked up a Gitzo bag for my tripod and honestly while nice I could do without the Gitzo name for a cheaper bag.

Damn, shouldn't have went to the site, I love that pen they are selling!

I just ordered the black, not sure if they have it in stock but it was available. My tripod is too big for the bag but I am waiting for my light stands and umbrellas, this would be a great bag for that plus my flash units.

They don't do international shipping, so I got myself a china made generic tactical bag off eBay, almost the same in terms of dimensions, plus 3 front pockets for smaller stuffs like umbrella holders. Quality wise, nothing spectacular, but does the job fine.
