JDubya......

My passenger had a broken leg, I had some bad scrapes on my leg. I have been driving sportbikes for awhile (I have a Ducati 848), so that helped me control the bike in the crash to some extent. Some clown was flying down the road behind us (on a scooter) when we were turning left, and tried to pass us on left even though we were signaling to turn left. He ended up t-Boning us as we made our turn. The scrapes on my leg are from his tire ! SO after our heads stop spinning we realize we are both lying in the middle of the road bleeding, and I feel wetness from gasoline pouring onto the ground from a ruptured gas tank. Of course instead of pulling myself to safety I immediately worry about my camera gear. I grab my backpack (with my 5D and L lenses) and snatched up my tactical bag from the ground that was throughly soaked in gasoline. Got to ride to the hospital in the Viet version of an ambulance, which is just a delivery truck with two metal benches in the back. Of course I prioritized the situation and ensured that my camera gear was loaded in the ambulance FIRST!!

Hers an answer to khairolnizam's question:

I assume that since you are in Malaysia that you might travel by motoscooter. My bag fits nicely on the floor of the scooter, and only sticks out a few cm's on both sides. I usually place my feet on top of the bag, or in front of the bag to make it more stable, but I have never had the bag move or shift, the weight of the lightstands makes it stable. On a motorcycle it can be strapped own with bungee cords to a luggage rack, although it is best to strap both ends of the bag, it is very long and strapping it in the middle will cause it to shift loose.

there is only one way to carry it while walking, with the strap slung over one shoulder, the bag should hang lengthwise along your body with the top facing forward. Place your arm and hand on the outside of the bag and hook your hand over the other end of the strap, this keeps it from swinging as you walk. It is unbelievable light and comfortable hanging, and feels like it is part of your body as you walk. If one shoulder gets tired you switch to the other shoulder. Some people wear the bag around their waist or across their back, but this is impossible with lightstands inside the bag, the bag is too stiff to bend and will be uncomfortable on your back.

Try to put small parts inside the many pockets so they dont fly around inside the bag and scratch the big things.

Sorry, dont have pics...hope that helps

Man I love riding but all the idiots on the road scare me. Ducs are sweet but I've only ridden a Multistrada. I prefer the K1200S but they're both awesome bikes. Now I want to go ride but it's like 10° out lol

The 1200S is awesome !!! I am thinking of trading my 848 for a 1200S. THE 848 is nice, but I don't race anymore, and its too harsh for the street and useless for touring.

Heres my sorry butt with my 848 (my buddies 1098 in background)

That's what's great about the K1200S, you get the looks and crazy speed of a sport bike but with a VERY comfortable riding position (I also have Verholen bar risers). I could ride that thing all day. ABS is also very nice to have, should it ever be needed. The Multistrada is another story. It has the worst seat ever. I even tried Sargent and Corbin seats and it still isn't very comfortable to ride for very long, at least for me.

I've never done any racing but I bet it's a blast. My dad went thought the California Superbike School back in the day and said it was wild. Your 848 is sweet, I love white bikes/cars/trucks!

Hey Dubya...Might have a bag request....

Do you have anything like a military ALICE pack that would fit a 5DKII with a 70-200mm 2.8L attached? Would be nice if the entire back of the bag would unzip (like a kids backpack), with a big inverted T for the camera and lens (Camera on bottom), and then some other pockets on the upper right and left for other lens, PW's, etc.... I can send a Powerpoint of the configuration if needed...

Also looking for something like a Canteen or Military utility belt that wold have a holster to fit the 5D with the same lens....

Are you the persons that produces the Tactical bag? That thing is indestructible! Reminds me of the tool bags we had in the military.

I didn't make the SAT-COM bag, they're made By Maratac/County Comm. I just wanted to see if there was a market for making custom bags/pouches/nylon gear for people who can't find a ready-made solution to their needs.

I don't have anything; that is, I don't have an inventory. I could make it though. When you say like an ALICE pack, do you want it to fit an ALICE frame? If you have some drawing, send them over. It's much easier that way.

The belt would be no problem. I could pad it and use a 3D moisture wicking mesh as the fabric closest to your body. Almost all of my materials are mil-spec and made in the USA and I love doing military stuff. I'm currently making a range bag and last week I made a duty/gun belt.

The main section is tripple-layered but the middle piece is perfectly sandwiched between the outer two

Kool Dubya.... I'm headed back to SouthEast Asia in about a week so probably too late for this trip. I will be gone about a month, but will give you a yell when I get back to see if we can work a deal.....

@ JDubya your DIY's are cool, wanted to share this with you

https://photography-on-the.net …hp?t=875307&highlight=DIY

The only problem I have with mine is the inserts are held in there with velcro, and the adhesive is starting to give way. I wanted to use velcro to be able to change the configuration of the insert padding as my gear and needs changed. Could the back of the back of the pack be lined with velcro and sewn in so I could put padding anywhere I wanted. Do they make velcro in sheets like that? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks
Adam

Hey Adam, yeah I could modify the back to be a solid sheet of loop Velcro. I could also sew Velcro onto the inserts if the adhesive isn't working out.

Prob just need new inserts all together could you quote me a price on inserts and putting in the velcro backing? I can measure the inserts for you so you can get an idea of how much material you would need. Are you able to get the ACU digital material? Thanks for your time.
