I liked the theory of this shot, but wasn't to pleased with the original. So I brought it into PS and just tried different things. You really need to view the B&W on black otherwise it looks way to dark. However I didn't know how to set that up. Any advice on that would be great.

The original doesn't do anything for me, it's just plain boring. The texture of the metal turns me off. Your b&w conversion though has worked really well, it's a much more interesting picture to look at and now I do wonder where the stairs are leading too. So well done!

I agree with the previous comment, the black and white has some character. However, I think this would benefit from having been taken at a slight angle, maybe looking up at it slightly or something to give some perspective because the right angles of the steps are a great lead in feature but don't lead anywhere.

I feel the same way. I wish I could have gotten better angles, but it was on private property, so I was unable to get any closer.
