Holy crap. You do know that thing is only rated with an average shutter life of 50,000 shots, don't you? At that rate, it will be dead in 4 days.
You sure you didn't mess up the count by sticking an old card in it?
I don't think I've managed more than about 4,000 in a day, but that was shooting drag racing when explosions can be instantaneous so I use burst mode and fill the buffer on every burnout / pass.
Most full days shooting will vary from a few dozen, if shooting landscapes etc., to about 2,000 for events with action going on all day.
Anyway, to answer the original question regarding my current DSLRs:
20D: had it nearly five years, about 85,000 clicks
5D: had it nearly three years, about 50,000 clicks
40D: had it three weeks, about 200 clicks
So, around 135,000 clicks in 5 years giving an average of around 500 shots per week.

Sweet, despite all the pub gigs I have been taking, quite shockingly low
