It has been a full year since I first shot sports for the first time. I shot the Homecoming game for my former high school. This is just to show how the wealth of knowledge here can really help a noobie with an Xti. The before pictures are from the 2008 Homecoming game( Xti and 75-300), and the after pictures are from the recent 2009 Homecoming game (30d and 70-200 f/2.8 ).

*Some of these, in the gold jerseys, were from the second game i had ever shot.

Lighting on this field still sucks. But if anything has improved, my overall white balance and color tone has improved. The rest can be seen here:http://www.zachelsemanphotography.com/p200666906 (external link)

C& C greatly appreciated!

Colors have definitely improved. One year of practice does a lot.

40D, 70-200/4L, 50/1.8, 100/2.8, Sigma 17-70, Sigma 10-20, 430EX

I think your shots improved. Shooting on most high school fields is like shooting in a tunnel. I just shot some 11-12 football games the later it got the higher the ISO by the time the game ended I shot the team shaking hands, and after game coaches lecture at 25,000. Yep they had about as much noise in the them as a firetruck with the siren blaring wide open. if you shoot basketball games they are such a treat too. You did improve

A great photo only starts with the shutter release,
1DS Mark ii,7D , 40D, 24 mm 2.8, 50mm 1.8, 50 mm 1.4, 28-138, 18-200, 70-200 2.8, 100-400 4.5-5.6 , 580 EXII,
