I put this up in the people section, but maybe i'll have more luck here :)

Ok, so I haven't dug into photoshop w/ these yet... I'm bored @ work, so I figured I'd play with these a little.

My little sister is a senior in highschool at the moment, so we went out yesterday and took a bunch of senior portraits [presents for her, since I'm a starving college student ;)] Anywho, here are some of my favorites. I've never used photobucket before so i hope this works... and resizing these on here makes them look crappy... because I probably have NO idea what I'm doing hahaha.

I took these with my new xsi [Still trying to figure it out lol] <3

THANKS FOR LOOKING!!! I would appreciate and feedback :)

great photographs. not bad at all...although next time, try to work on getting some different expressions from her (laughs, serious, action shots, etc). no more cookie-cutter smiles :-P

also, try to incorporate some of her interests (sports teams, hobbies, etc). thats really what senior portraits are meant to portray. but again, very nice images, very pretty girl.

Thank you!

I know, I was trying to make her laugh, but unfortunately, she's very self conscious about her teeth.

I am going to take her out when she gets her class ring... we'll have to brain storm about her favorite activities and such!

Thank you so much for your opinion, it means a lot! :) [Yes, it's scary how beautiful she's become, she'll be 18 next month, even MORE scary!!! :P]

P.S I do have these that I really like, but the quality [I don't think] is that good...

I'm totally diggin' that second set better than some in the first. i have to say she has a much more gorgeous laugh than her 'cheese...' smile. even though you think the quality differs, in the end its the subject and mood that matters. not whether or not the color is spot on or the exposure is on the right curve.

fantastic work.

haha I do mostly seniors, so I catch your drift. I also work part time in a childrens portrait studio, and I tell my clients that I'm not afraid to make goofy noises or play peek-a-boo with a 20-something to get them to laugh. but you experienced first hand that the effort pays off :-P

The first image is nice, but I too like the second set much more. Her smile in the first set is noticeably forced/fake. The fifth photo you posted is probably my personal favorite. She seems to be genuinely having fun! I would see if you could remove the glare on the wall and whatever the white in the bottom corners is, and in my opinion, it would be a definite keeper.

All of these seem to be a little overexposed though, making her skin really washed out looking. And while I don't know much about portrait photography, I will suggest that if you go out again try to have her wear long sleeves in at least a few photos. People's eyes are naturally drawn to skin, and we need to be looking at her beautiful face and not her arms!

The second set is better, although the contrast and saturation seem a little weak and her face washed out. She is very pretty though and has good expression when she isn't faking a smile! I would clone out her pimples too. No offense, but they are a little distracting.

#1 seems angled for the sake of being angled and it doesn't make the photo any better.

The last photo should be cropped to eliminate any of the extremely blown out areas outside of the red thing. The blown areas cause too much distraction.

Overall these have too much DOF for my tastes, especially #2. And your WB seems to be all over the place too. Too red sometimes, too green (compare skin tones in #2 vs #3), skin too bright at times (#5&6), etc.

I agree with a lot of what you guys are saying, like I said, I was using w/e windows has available when you view pictures... I am working on photoshopping them at the moment. Trying to make them better, I'll definitely have to watch out for the white balance because I did notice her face looking a bit yellow in some pictures.

@thesilent: I'll have to try to get her in a long sleeve in a couple months. I think she might die right about now, the weather here is average 110 everyday. :/ But great suggestion, i would have never thought of that.

@rssfhs: I am definitely working on her acne with PS. :)

@HappySnapper: With the quicky edits her face is definitely too bright in some of them, I was quickly throwing stuff together for her to see. Also, I'm new to all of this, I am not sure what you mean by DOF? Could you elaborate for me?

Thank you guys for all your input. I really appreciate it!!! :D

DOF=depth of field. Too much DOF means using too short a focal length and/or too small an aperture.
