I am interested in getting into doing some table top shooting and want to purchase a quality setup. I have researched and read available reviews on table top shooting. Have pretty much narrowed it down to buying the "MyStudio (MS32) Tabletop Photo Studio Kit." Anyone out there that has this particular model care to share their experience with this kit? Thank you. :)

I don't have the kit but it does strike me as VERY expensive. $400? That's a pile of money. I'd try building one first.

I wouldn't touch this kit

$400 is a pile of money for a kit of this type. There are many ways in which you can get equal or better results for a lot less bucks.

A set of small studio strobes will give you more control along with some background material and reflectors. You don't need lots of power and the modeling lights will give you WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) ability and, I would assume a lot more control since you can use modifiers such as barndoors, grids and snoots on the studio strobes.

Try this site for several excellent videos on table top photography.

Here's a light tent which is quite inexpensive but which will allow you a lot of control in tabletop work

OMG don't buy that, you can make everything there out of one piece of foam core and have plenty left over, get some paper to shoot on as well. I shoot a lot of table top and use 1-2 lights with softboxes (octaboxes) and lost of cards, foil, diffusion etc., not because I have to but because it's what works well for me. I have 4 lights but seldom use them and I generally only have one large soft key with a bounce card for fill and sometimes another light for a little separation or to light up the background card.
