Nice find on the wheat ear Dave. I bet the twitchers are fainting in droves on the East Coast.

Thanks Mitch. Yeah, this bird did get a lot of people off of their couches. I normally don't go out of my way to see birds, but saw others getting frame fillers of the Wheatear so I drove the 40 minutes to check it out.

A very charismatic and likeable puffball.

I bet the poor guy is lonely. I hope our birds treat him right and make him feel welcome. :)

He lingered for 4 days, and is gone now. Fortunately or unfortunately the NJ Meadowlands area has a pretty high concentration of raptors, including a couple of Peregrines to go along with the typical Harriers, Coops, and Red Tails. I do feel bad for vagrant birds that seem out of place, but hopefully the Wheatear righted itself and is completing its fall journey to Africa.

Good shooting, Dave. That first image is a great find and a killer shot.

Thanks a bunch Harvey. That Wheatear shot was in fairly overcast conditions which made for some nice dramatic contrast.

Thanks Judy, yeah all at DeKorte Park. Seems to be the place to be right now.

Thanks Steve, the Wheatear would often pause to look around and ponder.. it often did so while standing on logs and stumps. Made for great photo opps.
