Photoshop CS 8.3?

Looking for Phtoshop CS for a friend's old system which has too little ram for anything newer. He found PS CS 8.0 on ebay, but what does the 8.0 mean?
I once had CS, but with no proceeding numbers the name.

I think PS made it to version 8 before they started calling it CS (Creative Suite)

I think Jay is right - PS was numbered until 8 iirc.

Then it became PS CS with subsequent editions being numbered - hence PS CS4 is actually PS 12.

Errr, my copy says version 11

I believe CS was version 8
