I've never sold an item online and considering with my 40D. Because of the paypal fee, is it reduced automatically 3% when it gets to you? Also which shipping method, USPS, UPS or FedEx do you think is best? Thanks for your help.

Paypal will deduct their fees before giving you the proceeds.

I've shipped USPS, UPS, and FedEx. They all have their quirks. Personally with expensive equipment I would go with FedEx or UPS because of a tracking number, and I would purchase insurance (typically first $100 is insured automatically) in case the package is lost or damaged.

Ground vs. air...etc, you can work that out with the buyer.

also a note about packing. Hopefully you saved the original box and contents. If so, get a LARGER box, line it with packing peanuts or bubble wrap. Wrap the camera in original box in bubble wrap, place in larger box and fill all voids with more bubble wrap or stryo peanuts.

Every carrier on the planet will throw around a small lightweight box. Proper packaging will (nearly) assure product safety and package integrity during transit.

Can't stress enough how important it is to provide your buyer with a well-packaged item that delivers intact and as advertised. Anything short and you, as the seller, are asking for BIG trouble.

Lastly, if the item costs more than $100, I take out additional insurance to cover the true replacement cost of the item and ask for signature release (or whatever the carriers call that) service. This is to protect me from a customer who might want to say the package did not deliver even through the carrier has provided a proof of delivery scan.

If you're selling on this forum, check the buyer's history in the feedback (if there is any), how long they've been around, etc. Make sure you have all your terms clearly stated in your ad.

I've never sold anything anywhere but here and have always had very good success. Good luck.
