It's a while since I have posted for C&C here - but I would appreciate your help now.

I've got this picture and I'm not sure if it is OK as it is or if there is a glaring need to introduce a person or some subject into the middle?

I can re-shoot this sometime, but I would appreciate any comments or ideas for improvement so that I stand the best chance of getting it right next time.

Thanks

I agree - it needs a point of interest. Some (chalk) graffiti?

If I was reading this as a story what would I come away with? Someone standing waiting for the train, someone really interesting, would make all the difference in the world.

I'm not a fan of out of focus foreground elements. Too distracting IMO.

It depends entirely on what you are doing. I would also point out that sometimes what we are doing expressively in photography is incapable of being accomplished with just one image. As an example, what if this is one image of a series looking at vacant spaces? Then to my mind, it doesn't need a thing--except perhaps more images in the series.

Absolutely true Christopher and I think that is because the brain can program the pattern into cognition as a theme or way and see the correlation image to image ... one image by itself however remains as it stands with no other reference.

Thanks guys - I think you all make some very valid comments. This picture was a bit of an accident and it was only when I was looking at it later that I wondered if there was anywhere to take it with a re-shoot.

This community has an amazing diversity of people and I wondered if I could capture some of the different faces of the village in the middle part of the frame (a series perhaps?)

I like the wall, but the framing just doesn't work for me.even if there were faces in there, my eyes would be trying to focus on the OOF foreground? Maybe sit yourself infront of the rail.and use the wall as your frame:D

What if I shot from further back to show it more clearly as looking through a window in the waiting room on the opposite platform?

I think that everyone could have great input on this, expert or not. Although I understand your want for very experienced photographers to be commenting on your work, this community feels more closely knit than that. Anywho though.

I personally think it's a pretty rad photo but as mentioned is a little lacking as far as a subject. I think a person or even a left behind object like a briefcase could really do something great for it. :)

Totally up to you! But then, I would have it focused.( and maybe level?)

Thanks Ryan

I use the word 'experts' very loosely, I certainly didn't want to exclude anyone's views and frankly don't see why one person's opinion is more valid than another - expert or not.

Interesting that you mention a left behind briefcase - I had though about something like that as being easier to mobilise than a person.
