^manfrotto and breno are what you will most likely hear the most of.. personally I use a manfrotto.

I'm only 22, but I find that it's just easier to use a monopod for football related shooting. It don't mind getting down on the ground to take my shots and just find it natural to have the monopod with me. Plus it gives me a spot for undercamera flash usage.
