I talked to the seller and he agreed to sell the lot for $350 plus shipping. I was wondering if this is a good deal or not.

I checked the main list of lenses and I couldn't find the "Canon EF 75-300mm 4-5.6 IS" on the list. Can anyone tell me about this?

The Canon 75-300 IS was the first IS lens, it was discontinued and replaced by the FAR superior 70-300 IS...

The 75-300 is regarded as being not terribly good optically and generally a waste of money

The 24-85 is alright if i remember right..

Really you paid $350 for two very "ho-hum" lenses...and a flash...if you're still shooting a crop camera, your money would have been better spent on the 55-250 which is a vastly better lens than that old 75-300....and even the 18-55 IS kit id wager is a bit better on a cropper than the 24-85 if only for the fact it has IS and a better range

I would say maybe if it was about half that, you would have gotten a good deal.

Thank goodness it was a verbal agreement. I did not commit to any contract under eBay policy. I no longer plan on going through with this deal. Thank you all for responding.

Average price of about 120 bucks each really isn't bad. It's not the deal of the century, but it's not bending you over by any means.

Don't listen to those guys. I think you got a great deal. If you don't have a flash or longer lenses you can try them out to see if you like them. Then later you can easily sell the items separately for at least $500.

The 24-85 is a very nice lens and sells for as much as $200......

This one sold for $142........ http://cgi.ebay.com …&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT (external link)

The 75-300 IS is the best of the 75-300 lenses and easily sells for $200...... http://cgi.ebay.ca …7354&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 (external link)

The Sigma 500 Super is a great flash and easily sells for $100 or more..... http://cgi.ebay.ca …ab9b&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 (external link)

Actually, other than the fact that the lenses are nothing special you could probably sell all of this for $500 or more. I sold my 75-300 IS lens for $400 on eBay and the 24-85 will probably sell for about $150. Of course, the time it takes to list each item and pay the eBay fees would make it less attractive.

OK, you beat me to it. I agree with this, but I think the 75-300 IS will sell for closer to $300.

that 75-300 IS is a good lens and worth almost the $350 alone !
I had it and it was pretty sharp and the IS worked very well , compare it to the 70-300 non IS and I can see that one being a waste.

the package deal may not be that good for an advanced shooter that knows what to look for but 2 lenses and a flash for $350 is not a total rippoff.

look around ebay and you will see what stuff is worth .

The OP is new to photography and currently has only a 50D and a 50mm 1.8 II https://photography-on-the.net …php?p=8674193&postcount=1

This is the perfect buy for someone like him, especially if they are on a budget. He can gain experience with this stuff and then move on to better equipment later.

I think it is a pretty fair deal. The lenses are all actually above average and the flash is decent. You aren't going to do a whole let better for less than double that price.

The 75-300 is infamous for being one of the very worst Canon lenses. I borrowed one once and couldn't get a sharp shot out of it at any focal length. Nonetheless, pieced out in a resale, you could probably make your money back.

i think a better use of money would be 18-55mmIS and 55-250mm IS...yeah he'd miss out on the flash...but that's it...he'd have a lot wider of a walk around lens too...plus better i.q....and IS from 18-250mm

he could pick up this flash too:
http://cgi.ebay.com …b299&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 (external link)

and only be spending about $30-40 bucks more than the original $350 offer
