Well, to begin with, I was caught totally off guard at a few of the...elements. And then the sun was messing with everything. And well, I hated every minute of it. But it's done and I could NOT be happier. Not sure about some of these shots, but it is what it is!

good shots mate, composition wise it is top notch, but I don't know, it's missing that extra crisp sharpness IMHO...

Well, thanks! :)

I used a 24-70 f/2.8L and Speedlite 580EX II (which the batteries died in right at the end, thankfully). I wonder what I could have done to get more of that sharpness?

LIBBYLOU - What do you use for post processing? With the 24-70 f/2.8L, I find that I usually have to bump up the clarity setting in CameraRaw (Adobe) to get the crispness that I desire. That lens does have a history of being slightly soft, at times.

As for the photos, watch that you are not tilting the camera when shooting the photo. I notice that a lot of your shots tend to lean to the left. Also, color temp seems to be a little funny on a few of the shots (especially #6 which looks EXTREMELY cold). Other than that, your composition and execution looks great.

It's a shame that you won't be shooting any more weddings. It is, indeed, a lot of work with a lot of planning that goes into it, even before arriving at the wedding. When I shoot weddings, I always have a checklist of the shots that I MUST get, that day, with a rundown of the schedule of the day. That way, I know where everybody is going to be at what time, allowing me to be where I need to be to catch the action (or to gather the parties for the formal portraits). A lot of work... you bet. Rewarding? Always! But, is wedding photography for everybody? NO WAY!!! =]

I use Lightroom 2. I didn't know about that lens tending to be a little soft. It wasn't even my lens, I borrowed it at the last minute!

I know, I do tend to tilt a little. I need to work on that. My husband likes to make fun of me for it.

I think the color temp is funny from my editing, if anything. :) And I have to admit, on #6, I did that on purpose, thinking it was cool. Whoops. LOL!

I just don't think wedding photography is going to be for me. I know it can be very rewarding (monetarily as well as for other reasons!), but I just don't know that I can handle the stress! Especially at a more proper wedding than that one was. ;)

Thanks for your comments, I do appreciate them. And if anyone else wants to jump in, have at it!

what I'd do normally if i want to ensure sharpness is to have my ISO set on auto, and shutter priority on at least 1/500 or faster, not for all occasion obviously, what help too sometimes is that before you press the shutter, you breath out and hold...

:)

I think it was good. I love casual theme weddings. The WB on the little child is bit off, but other than that, good job!

Sadly, I don't know a lot about Lightroom 2 (or any of the other Lightrooms, for that matter). I wonder if there is a setting similar to the "clarity" setting I told you about. By the way... do you shoot RAW, or JPG?

As for the color temp, I should be the one that says, oops! I didn't know it was intentional. It's JUST blue enough to where it looks like the color temp is off. I'm going to ENCOURAGE you to keep playing with colors, like that. You can get some amazing photos by doing so. Keep experimenting!

I just had to laugh when you said that your husband teases you about the tilt. I shot one while I was off balance at the last wedding I shot. My wife saw that photo and said that I should have had a V8 (remember those commercials?). But, yeah... wedding photography is not for everyone. I know MANY photographers who say that they will never step foot into another wedding as a shooter. Part of me can't blame them! But, I'm one of those gluttons for punishment who just can't seem to stay away! heh heh heh

Yikes, sorry about that!! :o Thanks for your comments, though.

I'll have to check for a setting like that, thanks. And I normally just shoot in JPEG, but shot those in RAW.
