When trying to shoot on any manual settings on my camera (including Av) my lense will not focus. The lense is set to auto focus. I am using a 70-200 2.8 ex HSM on a Rebel xt. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

:D Got a question..? Need some advice...? Use the search engine.. :D

Try taking the lens off then back on and see what happens. Sometimes this works with 3rd party lenses. Do other lenses work fine? Also clean off the contacts on the lens. If still not working, then call Sigma as you may need service.

Try it on another body if you can..just to see if it's the camera or lens.

Clean the contacts?

The little brass colored contacts that link the lens and body so they can communicate with one another. If these get dirty then the lens will not work right.
