I was thumbing through this section earlier today and realized I've not posted any of my recent bird shots in here. C&C is more than welcome as I'm always looking to improve.

1. Nature's garbage disposal:

2. Zebra Finch (at a butterfly garden)

3. African Weaver Bird (Same butterfly garden)

4. A Guinea

5. Sandpiper at the beach (any ID would be helpful. I have a fitful time trying to ID these little buggers)

6. Nothing too great, but an osprey looking for dinner

Nice collection of shots, love the Zebra finch, I rescued one from the harbour one time when I was racing.

Great series, what variety.

The Inca tern is awesome looking.

I'm going with Sanderling on #5.

Thanks both of you, and I agree tony, that's what I was thinking it is but wasn't totally sure.

I thought these little buggers were pretty cool too. Being around people all day made them fairly tame and they certainly didn't mind cameras. The finch shot was taken with a buddy's 300 f/4L IS near MFD.

Yeah, even when I was taking the picture I didn't quite realize how hideous these birds are. Mind you, they're feathers and gorgeous, but their heads...yikes!

Thanks for the comments! That Inca Tern oddly landed too close to me so I actually had to back away to the take the shot. Zoo birds can be quite friendly apparently. As far as the beach bird, it COULD be although Sanderlings usually hang out here in the winter time, where as this pic was taken in very late spring/early summer, but who knows, it could be a straggler.
