Post Your Favorite (LINKS) to Photos In The News.

I’m sure this may have been tried before in the past, but I did some searching on the older threads and couldn’t find anything. Anyhow, let’s give this spin and see if it sticks! I’m a serious internet news junkie, and when I eat lunch at my desk I tend to drill down through several of my favorite online news sites, and occasionally spot a photograph that might be fun to share with others. This is your opportunity to do just the same thing. So, just a few rules before we kick things off.

You Will Only:

Post a LINK to the news article, like this:

  • Hey everyone, I spotted a picture of a monkey on top of a goat, standing on a tightrope:
  • Or directly to the image itself if you prefer:
You Will NOT:

Hotlink, copy, embed, or re-host the image somewhere else and then share it here. Somebody else worked hard to take that picture, and it’s their property (and the property of the news agency that took it). So don’t do this:

IMAGE NOT FOUND
HTTP response: NOT FOUND | MIME changed to 'image/gif'

And of course the usual POTN rules apply. No nudity (or partial nudity) even if it’s marked with “NSFW”. Please no politics: “Obama Refuses to Meet with Republicans” is just going to start a flame war, but something like “Vladimir Putin Wrestles Bear In Russian Wilderness” might be worth seeing. I hope that makes sense. Also, please no “graphic content” (gory stuff) and please label your link before you post it. Opening a “mystery link” and finding out that it’s “John Hopkins Medical Professionals Develop New Eye Surgery Technique” might not go down so well with everyone.

That’s it, have fun.

Pictured: The glowing frog who wanted a light snack and swallowed a Christmas bulb:

Now I'm trying to think of ways I could get a frog to do that on command :)

I love this photo of a hot air balloon passing under Tower Bridge (for the first time in its 105-year history):

Four-year old Paige didn't want to say goodbye to her daddy before he was shipped off to Iraq. A very nice shot:
