I had a blast at this year's races. I started to get more into photography this summer and bought my cousin's used XTi (the one I used for all these shots) and I decided to treat myself to a 100-400 L rental for the races this year.

I have to say that it is an amazing lens! I was very happy with every aspect of how it worked and saw how, if done properly, the shots (even on my little XTi) can come out amazing.

So all you Air Race fans....post your pics of the fun, the excitement, the fans, the pilots, the "iron" and the "scenery"

I'll start

There was actually one this year. During one of the IF1 races, the pilot pulled up for a mayday and landed short of the runway. The airplane landed hard, and thankfully the pilot wasn't injured too bad. As for the airplane, it can be rebuilt. Should see the preliminary report for it up on our website within the next few days - http://ntsb.gov …ist.asp?month=9&year=2009 (external link)

All in all, it was a great year, lots of good races, and the weather was amazing.

QUOTED IMAGE

Great picture of Bear. Loved the paint scheme this year, to bad she didn't have then engine to turn and burn as in the past!

Photog, did you go?

Negative. Sort of shot my travel budget on OSH this year.

It's on my radar for 2010 though.
