Hi all, here's my first try at stacking.
It was 15 shots in total of a very pretty "thing" that landed on my balcony during a rain storm, and unfortunately died there too!
Anyway, what do you think of the stack?

Looks good - does gimp have a stacking feature or did you do them by hand ?

Nice shot and stack. Looks a bit like a harlequin bug?

Thanks Brian. It was done by hand and took about 40 minutes, which for a first attempt seems ok to me.

It was a very pretty insect. Just a shame that it decided to give up after I'd shot it...but now it can live on - well, until this thread is archived!

Really? Never heard of it, so I'll accept that as it's name! Thanks.

got some odd ghosting around the legs - you are better off with a stacking software like Helicon that does it for you.

It's not "ghosting"....it's where the insect moved, and I was too lazy to clean up the image before posting on POTN

Thanks Baselerd. I'll probably try again quite soon, now that I have a better idea of what I'm doing. But as to buying software - impossible right now as I've just started a business, so any money for my hobby is a big "no, no" with Missus Skygod!

nice work

Thanks! The weather forecasts here are for more hot weather over the next few days, so I'm on the lookout for any more potential insects for another stacker, though I might try with reflected flash next....
