September sees one of my fave arrivals, for about 3 or so weeks Red Necked Stints are everywhere on the local beaches here in Hokkaido.....

IMAGE: http://i704.photobucket.com/albums/ww42/owashi/IMG_9928.jpg

All these photos taken with my trusty old 400D and 100-400L.

IMAGE: http://i704.photobucket.com/albums/ww42/owashi/IMG_9630.jpg

They like foraging in the many upturned shells on the beach.......

IMAGE: http://i704.photobucket.com/albums/ww42/owashi/IMG_1510.jpg

I tend to crouch down when taking shorebird pics so my knees always get wrecked in early autumn..........

IMAGE: http://i704.photobucket.com/albums/ww42/owashi/IMG_1788.jpg

IMAGE: http://i704.photobucket.com/albums/ww42/owashi/IMG_1894.jpg

This is the nearest I could get to an action shot..........

IMAGE: http://i704.photobucket.com/albums/ww42/owashi/IMG_1974.jpg

They are pretty tame, these photos are all taken at 400mm and are only slightly cropped.........

Great shots there of one of the world's most travelled bird species. Wonderful detail from the 100-400mm.

Nice series there Stu. It looks like you've got a real good copy of that lens.

Terrific images, great angle on all of them despite the damage to the knees.
