I have 3-AB800s that are used in-studio and I take them on location too. I want to get another light that I can put on my boom arm/13' stand combo and just leave it there, without having to tear it down to take outside the studio. Now I use an AB800 on a boom w/ a 20 degree grid in 7" reflector.

I'm assuming an AB400 would suffice for a hairlight, but was wondering if anyone could recommend any other brand/type of light for a hair light.

i would say since your so far in with AB just stay with AB better to keep one brand for modifiers etc. but i would say if its studio work than a 400 would work great
