Of course to actually ship the lens it will be packaged in probably another (larger) box or thick padded bag, thus making the package larger and heavier... ;)

You don't expect him to reveal the entire, sordid, "I'm trying to smuggle this lens across international borders in order to evade value added taxes and customs fees" plot do you?

It's for shipping. Yeah, that's the ticket.

I'm in the "he found a wrapped present and hopes like hell that it's the 70-200" camp. :p

Although his signature seems to suggest he's going to the dark side. Hmm.

Can't you make up a better story than that?

Maybe the wife needs a box of a certain size and he's trying to get his 70-200 that way..

Or maybe his wife only allows him to buy lenses that fit in a certain size of box

He might be trying to hide it from her, by keeping it in the stacks of shoe boxes for all her shoes?!

haha, you guys are hilarious

I'm not smuggling anything over the board. I'm not willing to get fined or lose my lens over that... not worth it.. I couldn't afford to lose 2000 bucks i wouldn't want to get a bad rap either and end up getting pulled into customs every time i cross the boarder. we live right on the boarder at MI and we go over quite often. so i wouldn't want to get inconvenience like that every time we went over.

I've been debating swapping to nikon because i've had lots of issues with canon service and equipment.

but i think for now i'm going to buy a 5DII and see how it works. if i hate it, then i'll go D700 and see what i think. i need to play with a D700 first before i sold all my canon gear.

thanks for everyones reply's

hhaha

Joel
