Hello,
I was wondering if it was worthwhile to invest in a L lens for a entry level DSLR camera such as the Canon Rebel XT/350D?
Any experiences from Rebel owners?

You will be able to see the difference right away (even if you are a beginner). Please note that although most L seems to be good, there are also non L and third parties lenses which are good lenses (such as the Tamron 28-75 XR Di). /Alex (aka Lordjim)

As other have already said, remember that the most important part of the whole kit is the lens. You can have a 1D any model but with a crappy lens what you will have are only (in terms of quality, not artistic) crappy pics. OTOH, with a great lens, even a crappy camera can give excellent results. And BTW, the XT is NOT a crappy camera

In a year or two I'll upgrade to a better body, and I'll then have great lenses to go with it. Have one "old" L-lens now and will hopefully get another this summer when my buddy has found his wide angle lens he wants. /Petra Hall

I wanted to ask this question because the guy who i was going to buy the L lens from told me it is better for me to get rid of my 350D/XT and invest in a 20D! L does not make the photographer nor does it make the picture. You make the picture, L glass just makes it better. You seem to have covered the short in your 17-85 and the fixed in your 100. So why not the 70-200 in either the F4L which is very affordable or the 2.8. It really depends on what you will be shooting. Canon 60D

The 20D has more flexibility - but in most cases - not better photos. Invest money in lenses - they will hold their value much better than bodies!
