Hi,
I'm looking for a backpack to take my gear and netbook on the plane.
I'm browsed the forum and internet already for some days and now choosing between lowepro computrekker aw and computrekker plus aw.
Plus version looks a bit to big for me, and I afraid airlines will not allow me to take it as hand luggage.
Interior of "non-plus" version looks not deep enough for my 40D with BG-E2N attached.
Problem is I don't have any shops in the radius of 100miles to go and take a look on this kind of bags. The only option I have is order via internet.
Could any of owners of this bags share they experience? Does anyone tried to use Computrekker AW for 40D and the grip?
How does airlines react on the big computrekker plus aw version?

List of the gear I'm normally take on my trips:
40D+grip +70-200 F/4 attached
17-40 L
24-105L
430EXII
spare batteries for camera and flash.
cables, chargers
+12" netbook
thanks a lot in advance

Sem

They'll allow you to take that as carry on...without any problems.

have you checked out Think Tank (external link) products?

Sem, I can't help you with those packs, but have a look at the Kata R-103.

Hey i have/had a very similar setup as your gear list and use the ThinkTank Airport Antidote to fly back and forth to Europe pretty regularly. It fits even in the smallest domestic flight overhead bins. Its been awesome for me in my many travels.

I already saw Think tank on the internet
think tank airport antidote v2.0 looks kind of nice option. But getting it to europe would cost me big $$ ;)
One of the reasons I was considering lowepro it's easy available here
Maybe I need to search a bit more.

Where are you going. I loaded a DaySafe 200 "secure computer backpack" from Pacsafe with about 40 pounds of stuff--computer, meds, extra underwear, batteries, 1 G9, 1 5DM2, four lenses, two TCs, one flash, one tripod and one monopod and all that wad of chargers and connectors the electronic require. I managed to get aboard JetBlue with it. The kit is tough as nails and very protective, both from knocks and from thievery.

that's why i got the antidote....it meets international size requirements for carry-ons.

we flew in a 38-seat commuter jet from anchorage to kodiak and back and once you remove the laptop case from the front pocket the antidote fits perfectly in the overhead.

The only reason I dropped kata 103 from the list was lack of any kind of pockets . It's nice to have small closed compartments for flash cards, filters, hdd etc.

I'm in europe.
Quite often go on short trips to Frankfurt , Munich, Brussels. sometimes london or US.
Airports personal are getting more and more crazy this days. Especially in London and brussels.
Any additional pound of weight or millimeter of width and you have endless discussion.
For the moment I'm flying with Slingshot 300. But now I would like to take netbook with me also. And Slingshot have no place for it at all.
So I started to look for something with place for small notebook.
Looks like I need to find somewhere think tank :)

Well :) You have no change to take it on board in Heathrow or Zaventem. Even in business class

This is not an option

Did you look at the first link? It has some pockets. They're not huge, but they can hold plenty of stuff. You'll also have a fair amount of space left over in the main compartment to use the provided mesh pouches to store things.

You can buy them in the UK - here (external link). About the same price as the computrekker plus.

I have used the Kata 103 for travel all over europe and the US - worst case for carry-on problems is RyanAir - and never had a problem with the Kata. Well built. Their are 2 external pockets big enough for cell phone, ipod, memory cards etc. with some nice internal pockets for miscellaneous stuff. The thing I like most about it for air travel is that the shell of the backpack is semi-rigid so if I do need to "stuff" it into very small overhead bins I'm confident that everything inside is protected very nicely.
