My new Sigma 70-200 2.8.
These are a few of my first soccer shots from my 8 year old's game today.
Untouched right out of the camera.
C&C always welcome.

They seem a bit soft, did you have a single focus point? at 1/1000th you should have been fast enough, are these the best of the bunch?

I used centre focus point.
They seem sharper on my monitor.
Is there a way to upload here any better?
They only allow 150kb

If you look at the grass in front of the in both shots it seems that it might be in focus better than the players. Is this your first time using the lens?

OK, 100% crops will always look a bit soft, I thought they were the shots right from the camera.

most dslr shots need some sharpening, were these RAW's or jpeg? Not much at 100% is going to look great either.

they look fine. try to get closer so you dont have to use 100 % crops. they would also look better if you uploaded to flickr, then embedded them into the post..

Did you shoot any at F2.8 since it was your first time out with the lens?

If xtremedigitals.com (in your sig) is your own personal website.. make a separate directory to put pictures you show on here...then you can just use the picture icon to upload from your site to here, then you're not as limited unless your website bandwidth/month is small. (Make sure to watermark stuff then obviously.) After typing that I see you're nearly at 800 posts here so you might already know you could do that?

EOS 7D Sigma 70-200 F2.8 (1.4 extender outdoors) are the workhorses. 50D for backup, EF 70-300MM USM f/4-5.6 IS, Freelance photographer for local newspapers and my website viewthroughmylens.net (external link)
