I am just in the early stages of learning flash photography and would like to get a bit more creative. What's a good and not too expensive way to get my flash off camera, fixed cord or can I use a remote trigger attached to the camera?

Any thoughts or links.

Cheers

Since you're in Australia, I can give you this link :) I bought these wireless triggers a few months go and they work perfectly with my 430EX II. Very cheap too!

i am also into trying it.
I think cable is way too complex for it , since you will need at least 2 meter.
And it is a waste to buy a cable and to find out it is too short and re-buy something else.
On the other hand many cheap wireless transmitters (much cheaper than PW) seem to interefere flash and/or camera sensor.
I think You need an advise which cheap wireless is the best for you.

Look down the bottom of this page at "Similar Threads".

Or just search for 430exII off camera and I'm sure you will get a load of hits.

I'm triggering my 430EXII (finally have a proper lightstand/umbrella) with my 580EXII. Kind of expensive for just a "trigger", but I already had the 580EXII for my event work.

I'm now looking into the STE2 so I can fire both Speedlights off-camera.

If you want to retain ettl function your best bet is a long ettl cord like this one

Radio triggers are nice, but you will need to get comfortable using manual controls, not difficult, but still a learning curve.
