I do like my 16-35L II a lot, this lens has some bad reputation,
IMO it's a great performer closed down a bit. It's my primary lens.
I can't wait to compare it to Zeiss 21...

I wonder when it will become available in Canada..I probably will just order from BH but the way our dollar is right now it may actually be cheaper for me to stick with Canadian.

I just really want it right now

Really? I don't think there is a "unique" factor there knowing I have an excellent 35L...
Maybe I'm wrong...

But some people consider a good 35, 28, 21, 18 to be all different lenses.

The focal lengths may not be that much different, but different enough I'd say. Where they'll be most different will be the drawing/signature. Depends on what focal length and look you want.

Absolutely... They're all different. And the wider the lens, the more every millimeter makes a difference. You can have a 100mm and a 135mm lens and the difference won't be nearly as obvious as between a 35mm and a 28mm.

yeah, you're right, but let's not split hairs...
Would you really carry both 35 and 28 primes? not me. I think if my Zeiss 21
is as good as I hope it is, it will replace my 16-35L II in my bag.
My travel kit might look like: Zeiss 21, 35L, 50L and 135L or 70-200 f4L IS.
That's 4 lenses, enough is enough :)

Come over to my house and I think I can convince you that more than 4 lenses may be necessary.

I rented the Schneider 28mm PC and it is a really nice lens. Lots of image circle so it is really sharp edge to edge wide open. Lots of shift movement too. I am heading to Maine in a couple of weeks and I am debating if the 35L will be enough I would like something nice and wide like the 21 but that won't be possible and was considering the new 24TSE. I will most likely bring my 4x10 camera as well but to be honest after being spoiled rotten with instant results I am getting very fussy about wanting to go the development scan route and I have a top shelf scanner but what a pain to go through all that and then to have to spot the dust.

There is a guy shooting large format who lives in the Nevada desert just outside of area 51 who has the most amazing collection of lenses I have ever seen. Drawers full and some that produce the most interesting natural distortions.

Something tells me you two are birds of a feather ...

I have plenty of lenses in my house, while traveling I'm trying to limit to 4 in my bag...
Not easy :)

^ Well there you go. Having more than four lenses <> traveling with more than four lenses. ;)
