I am coming from the 'old' 5D to a newer camera...

I don't know which 1d camera I should go with...

Seems I can't get a full frame camera with fast FPS?

I guess that is the trade off?

Not unless you go with Nikon or wait on the Mark IV to be announced (some believe it will be a combo of the 1D and 1Ds line = FF and fast).

The 1Ds Mk II (4fps) and 1Ds Mk III (5fps) are as good as you're going to do with the current FF Canon lineup. A bit of an improvement over the 3fps of your 5D, but nowhere near the performance of the 8fps/10fps of the 1D Mark II/III respectively.
