Well, heres the situation.

Im using the canon T1i.. Im not really sure how to explain this.. but I took a picture and the camera got locked up.. The camera is still open like its taking a long exposure shot..

I was using the built in flash.. My settings were something like this.. I was on Manual, iso 800, 1/ 25th and f stop was around 2.2 using the canon 50mm f/ 1.8..

When i took the picture it sounded like the shutter opened (if that even makes sense) and i was waiting for it too close and it never did.. So i waited like 2 mins (still blank/ black screen) and i turned off the camera.. Turned it back on and nothing happened.. the shutter is still open and cant do anything on the camera, its a black screen... Should i take out the batteries? I am using the canon battery grip as well.. what are my options?

Yes, take the battery out and then try taking the grip off and putting the battery directly into the camera. Sometimes the grip doesn't make good contact with the body and the contacts need to be cleaned. Also try removing the lens and then putting it back on.

Let us know.

Glad that did the trick! ;)

If the problem only shows up when using the grip, try cleaning the contacts on the grip with a pencil eraser, rubbing each electrical point with light pressure.

I had a similar event like yours happen to me when I had a 5D camera and grip and some of the buttons on the camera stopped working mysteriously. I cleaned the grip's contacts and it solved the problem.

Cheers!
