Well, I decided to play a little bit with B&W and some of the girls love these shots, especially since we played with the pink ball that day!! HA

If the girls love them, then you have winners. Personally, I really don't like the selective coloring and the conversions to b/w need a little help. Exposure is under, horizon slanted and the crops too loose. Sorry bud but for me, I these just don't work. I'm sure that's not what you wanted to hear so perhaps others will have better things to say. Keep at it though b/c if the girls parents buy these since the girls love em, then its money in your pocket so who cares what I say?

Yeah, I don't disagree with you and I spent about 1 minute on these just to play. This isnt my job and just a fun hobby so I don't sell them, I just give them to the parents, so that is even better for them. I dont have alot of time to mess with post processing and I just post out the shots I take (unedited) to a Shutterfly site and let the parents do whatever they want with them. Not trying to impress anyone at all with the shots, especially since I am so new to photography and picked up my 1st decent camera about 2 months ago and just learning photoshop over the last 2 weeks. I have a long ways to go.

You're in the right spot to learn for sure. I usually don't crit something unless I really see room to improve or they knock my socks off (assuming I am wearing socks). I will offer one more small bit of "advice", take it for what its worth...if you want to learn, hooking up with a local "pro" can be the best way. You want to make friends with the other shooters at the games, especially if they are doing it for a living since they may be able to help you not only improve but even make a little at it to help fund new gear or whatever suits you. If they know that you are giving pics away, its not likely that many are going to be too keen on helping since that's how they get paid. Parents often settle for the lowest price and it doesn't get much better than free so it will definitely hurt their business and not endear you to the folks that might really be able to help you out. Again, just a thought, do with it what you will. Most importantly, keep shooting and having fun.

I have to agree with Scott. Selective color has its place and this really isn't one of them. It would be different if this was an ad for the soccer ball manufacturer. Keep at it. POTN is one of the greatest places to learn. There are real pros (both paid and non-paid) on here that can offer a world of knowledge.
