Took these last week. Light wasn't great but manageable. Subject matter was outstanding. Having hunted most of my life for deer, being able to see these elk up close was unbelievable. All pics taken with 40d, 70-200 2.8, Kenko 1.5x TC. No cropping.

So, I will. Cataloochee is in a remote corner of GSMNP, with only gravel roads leading to it. You go to Exit 20 on I-40 (in NC). Cove Creek Rd is the first or second road to the right as you go south on 276. The road goes over the mountain and you must follow the signs. I forget all the turns and the distance.
